It’s amazing the difference a new year will make. There’s a sense of renewal, of change, of exciting new opportunities, and we can’t think of a time when that was more welcome! Tastes and trends change as the years go by, and it’s important to keep up or fall behind. Here are some of the new trends we’re looking forward to seeing in 2021:
1. Natural elements
Many of us spent the majority of 2020 in our homes, so it’s no surprise we expect a move toward incorporating more natural elements into designs - we all want to get out a little! Expect to see more earthy tones, cool natural gradients, and natural details like wood, stone, leaves, waves and more.
2. Bold and simplistic data visuals
Big, complex data is out -efficient, simple visuals are in! Statistics show information communicated visually through charts, graphs, infographics, etc. is processed up to 60,000 times faster than text so moving away from information-heavy text and toward quick, easily digestible visual data points is the way of the future.
3. Flat illustrations
You may have already noticed the shift toward flat, simple illustrations and icons in marketing over the past year and we don’t expect that to go away. Icons and flat illustrations can effectively communicate a lot very quickly and are easy stylize to fit a certain type of branding (think Headspace or The Financial Diet’s Making It Work series) making it an extremely effective tool moving forward.
Out of the ashes of 2020, a whole new world of graphic design has arisen - we hope you’re looking as forward to it as we are!
